City of Hurst - Paid Opportunities

Financial Benefits

Attendance Pay

This plan provides an incentive for each full-time employee to keep sick leave at a minimum. Employees may be paid a cash award each December based upon their sick leave usage during the previous fiscal year (October 1 through September 30). To be eligible, an employee must complete the full twelve months of the previous fiscal year in a regular budgeted position.

Retirement

All full-time employees who are not an active member of any other public pension fund or system are required to join the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS). Beginning with the first pay period of employment, each City of Hurst member of TMRS will deposit (by payroll deduction) into TMRS seven (7%) percent of his/her gross pay. The City will match the deposit in the system in an amount double to the amount deposited by the employee.

Social Security

City employees are covered by Social Security. Deposits are made by both the City and the employee.

Deferred Compensation

Full-time employees may voluntarily participate in a Deferred Compensation Program, which makes it possible to defer income and taxes on the deferred salary amount.

Credit Union

City of Hurst employees and their family members are eligible to join Educational Employees Credit Union.

FlexComp

FlexComp allows employees to pay some benefit costs, such as qualifying health related and/or dependent/child care expenses with tax-free money. This benefit is available to full-time employees on January 1, following six months of service.

Service Awards

The City is proud to recognize the service of its employees. Special recognition is presented on every five year anniversary beginning with the employee's fifth anniversary.

Educational Tuition Reimbursement

Full-time employees who have completed six months of service may take qualified job-related courses and receive tuition reimbursement based upon his/her grades in the courses. Reimbursement per semester is limited to a rate not to exceed the basic tuition of six (6) semester hours at local, state, or county academically accredited college.
