Domestic Violence Program
Family Violence is a major crisis in our society, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area is no exception. Recognizing this, the Hurst Police Department started a Domestic Violence Program in 1990 to fight the wave of family violence which crosses all demographic lines. The Hurst Police Department is devoted to helping fight all forms of family violence, and provide information about services that are available to families who are in need of assistance.
A Family Violence Coordinator provides all victims of family violence with information about their rights, as well as available counseling services, shelter information, and legal service information. Any persons arrested for domestic violence are contacted prior to their release from jail and are encouraged to seek counseling. Low cost counseling is offered through the Women’s Haven. This program focuses on stopping violence and has proven to be both effective and beneficial to the community.
