Free Smoke Detectors
Smoke
Detectors Save Lives.
The most dangerous time for a fire to strike is at night when you
are sleeping. Smoke containing poisonous gases can overcome you
before you wake up. A smoke detector helps save your life. The Hurst
Fire Department is committed to ensuring that each residence in
the city possess at least one operational smoke detector. If you
need a smoke detector, a replacement battery, or assistance in testing
your detector, please contact Fire Prevention at (817) 788-7238.
We also have smoke detectors for the hearing impaired. Test your
smoke detector monthly, replace the battery each Spring and Fall
when you reset your clocks, and BE SAFE.
The Hurst Fire Department believes smoke detectors are so important
that we also have adopted a city code that requires every detector
in all apartment complexes in Hurst be tested annually. These tests
are performed by Fire Department personnel and immediate action
is taken to solve failures.
