Information Services

The Information Services Division is responsible for developing and implementing plans to invest in information technology that provides better services to internal and external customers.

Duties and responsibilities for Information Services include:

  • Assisting all City divisions in identifying technology requirements
  • Managing the strategic planning process that implements more efficient and effective new technology and replaces obsolete technology
  • Overseeing the purchasing, installation, and maintenance of technology throughout the City
  • Maintaining the operation of the City's telecommunication system
  • Leveraging the City's investment in geographic information systems (GIS) to provide additional interactivity for citizens and businesses
  • Provision of e-mail and Internet access for City employees
  • Operating the City's wide area network that provides voice and data connectivity to City facilities
  • Training City employees related to the use of technology in their area of responsibility
  • Protecting the City's data through best practices applied to network security
