General Transportation Issues

The City of Hurst actively participates in the planning and design of highway and public transit projects. Currently, Hurst is monitoring the economic and social impacts of several highway projects regarding design, environmental studies, right-of-way acquisition, and the implementation/construction process to represent the interests of our businesses and residents. We communicate to TxDOT the City's needs regarding design trade-offs and choices, landscaping, medians, turn lanes, access to current and planned commercial developments, schedules, and environmental mitigation efforts needed to protect Hurst's interests. City staff is monitoring projects affecting Precinct Line Road, Airport Freeway, SH 26, and the SH10/820 Interchange.

The City also participates actively on committees that make regional transportation decisions as administered by the North Central Texas Council of Governments.

At this time the CIty does not have a designated bicycle facility or system. A section of recreational trail from North Richland Hills through Hurst to Colleyville is known as the Cottonbelt Trail System.
