Red Light CameraRed Light Photo Enforcement Program

The City of Hurst’s Red Light Photo Enforcement Program was launched November 1, 2008. The photo-based system was activated at the intersection of Precinct Line Rd and Pipeline Rd.

The following locations are equipped with the photo-based systems: southbound Loop 820 Access Road and Glenview Drive and eastbound SH 121 Access Road and Precinct Line Road, and northbound and southbound Precinct Line Road where it intersects with Bedford-Euless Road. Also the eastbound and westbound approaches on Pipeline Road where it intersects with Precinct Line Road.

Passed by the City Council in June 24, 2008 (City of Hurst Ordinance No. 2057) the automated traffic enforcement initiative is intended to combat the problem of red light running in Hurst.

If a vehicle enters the intersection after the light turns red, it is detected automatically and the camera system records the violation. A $75 civil citation is then sent to the registered owner of the vehicle. The citation includes photos of the violation and a video is available for the vehicle’s owner to view online. The citation does not go against the owner’s driving record.
The goal of the Red Light Photo Enforcement Program is to make Hurst streets safer by decreasing the number of red light runners and reducing injury collisions.

Under the initiative, a notice of violation will be sent to those running a red light at the photo enforced intersection. The notice of violation will include:

  • A description of the alleged violation.
  • The location of the intersection where the incident occurred.
  • Date and time of the violation.
  • Name and address of the registered owner of the vehicle involved.
  • A copy of the recorded image.
