Fire Department - Operations

Fire Operations consists of 3 shifts of 51 firefighters, who work 24-hour rotations and report to the Assistant Chief. Each shift consists of a Shift Commander, 3 Lieutenants, 3 Driver Engineers and 10 Firefighter/paramedics. They man two engines, a quint-aerial/ladder truck and two ALS ambulances, which are always available for emergencies. Engines respond to all first aid calls to enhance available manpower and treatment.

The function of the Hurst Fire Department involves more than just responding to and extinguishing fire. Some of their daily activities include:
