2010 Neighborhood Fishing Program - Catfish Stocking
The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Inland Fisheries Office in Fort Worth announces the upcoming stockings of trout into Chisholm Park in Hurst. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department‘s Inland Fisheries Division is in the seventh year of an urban fishing program research project. Trout are stocked throughout the winter, starting in December and ending March. Channel catfish are stocked starting in April and ending in October.
A Freshwater Fishing License is Required For Anglers 17 Years Old and Older (unless born before Sept 1, 1930). Anglers are reminded that the Community Fishing Lake [CFL] daily bag limit is 5 fish/day. (Fish species identification chart) There is no minimum length regulation on channel catfish in CFL’s.
Stocking dates are subject to change because of weather and fish availability.
Catfish will be stocked in 2010 during the week of April 19, May 3, 17 and 31, June 14, 28, July 12, 26, August 30, September 13, 27 and October 11, 25. Each stocking consists of approximately 237 fish. No stocking is done in early August due to water quality.
Note: Beginning September 1, 2008, a new regulation was implemented on community fishing lakes which includes Chisholm Park. Anglers are allowed no more than 2 poles while fishing at these sights. This is to help prevent over harvesting and increase the bank access for anglers.
