Environmental Collection Center in Fort Worth

Free to Residents of Hurst

Hazardous materials may be disposed of at the Environmental Collection Center in Fort Worth. Citizens with a Hurst address on their driver’s license or a current water bill may take those hard-to get-rid-of items such as aerosol cans, old paint, batteries, and used motor oil to the ECC and leave them with a highly trained professional staff for proper disposal or reuse, free of charge. The City is charged per disposal, whether it is a can of paint or 50 cans. As a result, we ask that you collect several items within your household or with your neighbors to dispose of at the Collection Center.
Tthe Environmental Collection Center (ECC) is located in Fort Worth at 6400 Bridge St. near I-30 and Loop 820. For more information call the ECC at 817-871-5257.

The ECC will accept the following materials:
 

Acids

Fertilizer

Pesticides
 

Aerosol cans

Fluorescent lights

Pharmaceuticals
 

All batteries

Herbicides

Photo chemicals
 

Antifreeze

Household chemicals

Pool chemicals
 

Brake Fluid

Motor Oil

Oil filters
 

Craft/Hobby Chemicals

Paints/Stains

Solvents
 

Degreasers

Paint thinner

Transmission fluid
 

Drain cleaners

Pest strips

Varnishes

 

The ECC cannot accept:

  Ammunition
Radioactive Material
 
Explosives
Smoke Detectors
 
Medical waste
Tires
  Propane and Butane cylinders
Wastes generated by businesses

For your safety and to make the collection of materials less costly and more efficient, we ask that:

  • If a product is still usable, try to give it to someone who can use it.
  • Sort liquid paint by type (i.e. latex, oil based, lead based).
  • Please keep chemicals in their original containers. Place broken or leaking containers inside a second container of like material (for example, glass for corrosives, metal for flammables).
  • If a container has no label and its contents are know, please place a label on the container clearly stating the contents.
  • Do not transport chemicals in the passenger compartment of your vehicle. Put them in the trunk.
  • Mutually collect hazardous materials with your neighbors to reduce trips to the ECC.

 

ECC Hours:

Thursday & Friday 11 am - 7 pm
Saturday 9 am - 3 pm
