The
City’s successful Youth in Government program is starting it's tenth year.
You are invited to participate in the City of Hurst’s Youth In Government Program. Each student has a chance to win a college scholarship along with a paid summer internship with the City. Explore possible career paths while getting hands on experience in different departments and building your resume. You also have the opportunity to meet local officials, interact with students from other schools, participate in community service projects and make a difference in your community. The program is free, and open to all juniors and seniors who live in Hurst or attend a school in one of the four districts that serve Hurst. For more information contact Ashleigh Whiteman at (817)788-7029.
This program, developed in conjunction with Birdville and
HEB ISD, will kick off in October. Students who are Junior
level or above can apply.
Up to eleven students will be sponsored by the City Council
to participate in the coming year’s program. Students
will not only learn about subjects that involve youth issues
with municipal government, but they will also gain the needed
experience for many programs such as International Baccalaureate,
Senior Projects, Texas Scholars, and much more. This is a
unique opportunity for students. Download the application here.
