Animal Control Advisory Committee

Powers and Duties

"Initially appointed in June 1991 in compliance with the Texas Heath and Safety Code, the purpose of the Committee is to assist in compliance with the requirements of state law regarding animal shelters and control. The Advisory Committee is composed of one licensed veterinarian, the City's animal control officer, a police officer and a representative from an animal welfare organization. Another agency's animal control officer may serve as the representative of an animal welfare organization. Members are appointed by the City Council for a two-year term and may be reappointed. The Committee shall meet at least three times a year and its duties are limited to compliance with the requirements of Chapter 823-Animal Shelters of the Texas Health and Safety Code."
