Stage 1 Mandatory Water Conservation

With Texas experiencing the worst drought in more than half a century, the City of Hurst is joining other Tarrant County communities in implementing Stage 1 of the Drought Contingency & Emergency Water Management Plan. Beginning August 29, 2011 and continuing until further notice, residents and businesses cannot irrigate lawns more than twice per week based on the following schedule:

 

Take Our Survey.2012 Citizen Survey

The City is conducting a survey to determine how citizens rate City services and to measure citizen attitudes on certain major issues facing the City. This survey is being conducted by the City of Hurst. The survey will take about 15 minutes and your answers will be useful to the City Staff and Council as they plan for the future. Your responses will be anonymous and will only be reported as percentages. To take the survey go here.

Citizens Police Academy

Applications (pdf) for 2012 sessions of the Citizen Police Academy are now being accepted for the upcoming Citizens Police Academy which starts Thursday, February 23, 2012. The classes will be held at the Hurst Police Department located at 1501 Precinct Line Road. Please contact the Hurst Police Community Services Division at 817.788.7342 for more information.

No smoking sign.Amended Smoking Ordinance Went into Effect on January 1, 2012

The City Council has approved an amended Smoking Ordinance regulating smoking in certain public places. The Ordinance does not completely prohibit smoking but it does regulate the location and certain times that smoking can occur. To read more about the amended Smoking Ordinance go here.

Planned Closure - Norwood Dr., between the north intersection of SH 183 (to the south) and Pleasantview Dr. East &West (to the north) will be closed. Traffic north bound on Norwood will be diverted east to Brown Trail, west to the SH 183 access road. Traffic south bound on Norwood will be diverted at Pleasantview east to Brown Trail and west to Hurstview. The work is expected to begin January 31 and complete by 6:00 a.m. February 8.

Closed -The on-ramp to westbound SH 121, just west of Central Drive in Bedford. It is anticipated that the ramp will re-open in late 2012. Traffic is redirected to the next on-ramp just west of Bedford Road.
Permanently closed - The five residential streets on the south side of SH 121/183 at the eastbound service road. Weyland, Wondol, Wedgeview, Woodway and Wreyhill will no longer connect to the eastbound service road.

The NTE has launched a new planning tool, Beat the Traffic, on their website that will allow NTE facility users to view real-time traffic conditions (speeds, delays, lane closures, etc.), as well as set up customized alerts that will forward up-to-the-minute travel data to users in the case of major delays or incidents.
